Anti-Aging for the Young-ish 20 Something
While I recognize I am not old but as I inch towards 30 I have recently found myself stepping up my anti-aging routine. Here is what I added and why!!
Please keep in mind, I am not a medical professional by any means! These are just some things that have worked for me and I love!
Vitamin C
Vitamin C pretty much does what it looks like…brightens! Vitamin C Serums help even out your skin tone and erase uneven pigmentation or scars. Nothing reverses aging by any means but brighter, more even skin came certainly help you look younger!
I also have very sensitive skin and haven’t had any reaction to the serum at all. Which is definitely a plus when switching up your skin care routine. I don’t know about you but the last thing I want my skincare routine to do it give me pimples!
La Roche-Posay - Pure Vitamin C Serum - $41.99 at Ulta
Tony Molly - Vitamin C Brightening Masks - $4.00 each at Ulta
Under Eye Masks
I have the WORST under eye circles. I need about 15 hours of sleep a night to make them even slightly less noticeable. These patches are AMAZING!! So soothing they definitely help reduce the puffiness and bruise like qualities under my eyes.
Night Cream
You spend so much time sleeping why not repair your skin while you are at it?! Night time routines are important. There are a couple different things I use for night time. I rotate between Origin’s Night-A-Mins in the summer time and Bare Mineral’s Skin Longevity in the winter time. I find that the Skin Longevity is a bit heavy for summer and provides a bit more hydration in the dry winter time that is notorious in the flyover states. I also use use Kiehl’s Night Recovery serum under my lotion all season long. It really helps keep my skin super hydrated so I wake up with super moisturized skin for the day.
Origins - High Potency Night-A-Mins - $49.00
Bare Minerals Herb Night Cream - $42.00
Kiehl’s - Midnight Recovery Concentrate - $128.00
I know the price seems a bit extreme but it lasts forever. I probably buy maybe 3 per year.
Hydration
And during the day?! I swear by Bare Minerals Butter Drench, all year round! Back in the 90s I never prepped my skin, thought it would look greasy under my makeup, HUGE MISTAKE. Always prep your skin under you makeup! ALWAYS! Never apply makeup to a raw face. This causes pre mature aging and nobody wants that.
Bare Minerals - Butter Drench - $38.00
Hyaluronic Acid
Known as the hydration magnet. As you age it’s not as easy for your skin to retain it’s moisture. Hyaluronic Acid to the rescue! It plumps up fine lines, helps prevent wrinkles, and most importantly keeps hydration locked in. I add this in at night as a first step after washing my face.
Now this can be irritating to your skin. I went in knowing that so I only use it 2-3 times per week and haven’t had any issues. I don’t know if you use it every day if it would cause issues so I can’t recommend that.
Like with everything, use with caution. If it starts causing other irritation for your skin stop using it immediately, you don’t want to make things worth.
The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid - $7.50
Botox
Alright ya’ll another plug for my favorite med spa!! I absolutely swear by both fillers and botox. They both are miracles, absolute miracles!!! Botox can be used to prevent and treat wrinkles. Filler does what it it says it does…fill. Any location you want to plump up or even out. Fill it! Obviously lips are probably the most popular right now but a lot of people do chins, smile lines, checks, I even saw earlobes done the other day.
