Brunch Review - Little Brother
A tried and true brunch review!! We’re backkkk!! Food, Coffee, Mimosas (unfortunately this time champagne free), Overall Ambiance, and Service!
I really LOVE a good brunch!!
I can’t believe I haven’t been here before! Located in Windsor Heights on the end of a tiny stirp of shops. It’s easy to miss if you don’t know what you are looking for and boy is it worth the stop in!!
Ambiance - 10/10
Let’s just start out with, they were playing Harry Potter in the bar/waiting area so obviously I am already taken in. The 40 minute wait FLEW by!
They also had these 80s hits playing over the stereo system, it was just toe tapping good. Some other people waiting were even singing along! Really, there was this whole understated 80s vibe in the whole place.
They also have these children’s books all over the place to entertain the waiting kids (Little Brother, get it?), what a great idea!!
Food - 10/10
Another 10/10. This is seriously some of the best food I have ever eaten! And we eat out A LOT across multiple Midwest States.
I had the veggie skillet with hashbrowns (not breakfast potatoes). I swear the secret to a good skillet is a sauce, don’t just leave it to the fried egg, add a good sauce. And let me tell you, this sauce AMAZING!!!! It’s also sometimes hard to make a skillet with seasonal veggies like zucchini because they get too soft and get squishy, these zucchinis were SO well done. I have no idea how they did it, magic I assume.
My husband had a more lunch item, the Batter Fried Chicken Sandwich (pictured above). I didn’t try it (obviously because of the chicken part) but I did eat some of the pickles and fries, BOTH amazing!! I swear everything on that sandwich, from the bun to the mayo was homemade. Also, said fries, come with parmesan on them and are perfectly crispy! I wish I could have eaten more, that’s how good the food was!
Mimosa (Minus the Orange Juice) - 10/10
Obviously, just orange juice, BUT it was hand squeezed and seriously amazing. I don’t know if I’ve just never had true hand squeezed orange juice before but I am forever ruined for grocery store OJ gallons.
Service - 10/10
Everyone was so professional but so laid back. The staff just created a super non-formal, casual but efficient dining experience.
They have this really cool thing on the menu where you can buy a round for the kitchen staff (who work behind a large wall of glass for you to view while you’re waiting by the way. SUCH a cool experience). We asked about it, and our waitress explained that there is a period of time between breakfast/lunch and dinner the restaurant closes. During that time, all the staff take a break together. This is their “pot” of money they can all order specialty drinks, etc. from the bar and enjoy as a team before they leave for the day. I just thought this was an amazing idea!
Coffee - 9/10
Coffee is still one of my remaining aversions (thanks baby P) so I had my husband review it for me! He of course didn’t take a picture…but none the less…He had the cold brew (free refills by the way!) with cream. He said it was so rich and smooth, nothing like the burnt crap you get at that massively overpriced chain ;), with just the right amount of caffeine. Sometimes, because cold brew can have so much more caffeine then regular coffee, you can get a little jittery after it but not this time!! How’d he do? Should we hire him as a full time content creator?
