To Thrift or Not To Thrift - Clothing Edition

I feel like thrifting has been a thing for years, I mean everyone was selling at Plato’s closet in the 2000s, but it’s morphed into something else. This idea of sustainable fashion. I LOVE IT! There are so many good local shops. Let me take you on a quick tour!!

We don’t have a ton of good local clothing resale places, certainly nothing like Chicago or other major Midwest cities, but we can hold our own!

Goodwill - Salvation Army - St. Vincent DePaul - Worn - Plato’s Closet - Style Encore - ThredUp

Here’s what I ended up getting!

Oversized DKNY Stripped Jean Jacket - $10.84

One of the best purchases on this list! I think it was probably left because it was such a large size but a slouchy jean jacket is exactly what my Spring wardrobe needed!!

Donald Pliner Booties - $25.89

THE BEST DEAL!!! I mean these retail for $300!!

I ADORE these boots. The snakeskin pattern, the octagonal heel shape, the color, the pointed toe. Everything is pure perfection! Plus they are such high quality. They weren’t even worn when I got them!!!

Hollister Jean Skirt - $1, yes ONE dollar!!!!

Is it weird that I have already styled this in my head for the fair this year?! Just picture this with a pair of cowboy boots…ugh…PERFECTION!

Side note, I absolutely adore this shirt. You can get it on Amazon!

TopShop Jeans - $16

The seams on this wrap around at the knee and come down by my inner ankle. In a world of basic jeans, it’s very unique but not overly comfy. You certainly couldn’t run in these jeans and your knee bending is pretty limited.

Hesperus Pleated School Girl Skirt - $12.32

This takes me back to those Catholic School days. This is really a micro-mini skirt. I will definitely need to wear tights under it! I got these adorable black sheer tights with polka dots on them from Target and I can’t wait to take try this out this Spring!!

Banana Republic White Button Down - $14.95

An oversized white button up blouse is really a staple in anyone’s wardrobe. I am slightly embarrassed I didn’t already have one. This one is super lightweight material, great for the Spring & Summer weather in the Flyover States!

Motf Dress - $13

My husband calls this my Tinkerbelle dress and I guess I can’t really disagree. I love the color. I don’t have anything in this tone of green in my closet. Two mid-thigh-high slits on the sides makes this calf length dress SUPER comfortable! I can’t wait to wear this this summer!

Zara Loafers - $22.10

Really just a classic pair of fabric loafers. These too were not worn before they came to me. They were a little tight at first but stretched out nicely after a couple of wears. A good camel color that goes with any outfit.

Total Spent: $120.47 vs. Retail: $725

I mean I think we all know the conclusion to this experiment…THRIFT!! It is really the only way to go for affordable, sustainable fashion!!!
