SHEIN or SHE-OUT
EVERYONE has no doubt seen this company on some platform, ever wondered if the ripped off designs are worth the reduced prices???
It was a necessary time to update my work wardrobe. Mostly because my zippers broke on 3 of the only 5 work pants that I owned. Did I mention all of this happened in the span of a week, obviously it was a sign, I needed to go…. shopping!!! I really enjoy being on trend and fashionable. Even while doing it in the, more often than not, “stuffy” corporate world.
PS: My Boss… is a STYLE ICON, and I absolutely love everything about her wardrobe. As someone who aspires to ascend the ranks in my professional career, become a community leader, and a glamour queen. She is without a doubt, the perfect role model.
Now lets dive in, I bet you recognize these pants below, everyone has seen this brand. They flood every social media site, and is known for knocking off almost all brands, well at least the ones with clothes worth knocking off. They do this all for low low prices and you are wondering if that means lower quality? Here is what I thought!!
These pants had amazing reviews, so I decided to give them a shot. They were almost exactly like the picture online, which is extremally rare for Shein. Though the color was a tad darker. Which really wasn’t an issue for me, I just picked a fun color at random.
The fit was good, material wasn’t too stretchy, and it was very close to what a dress pant fabric would be. Wasn’t too thin either, I mean I wouldn’t stand outside in the middle of winter, but they were more high quality material than expected.
Length was good for me as well, though I am 5’3” depending on the day. I would say if you were on the taller side, anywhere above 5’9” they start getting to be to short for you to wear da heal with them.
Overall, wasn’t over the moon about these. They were really just a basic dress pant, nothing more, nothing less.
Here’s how I wore them! Don’t mind the dirty mirror…**cringe
On to pant pair number 2, right out the gate, these were very slippery(?)…I sort of got that vibe from the sheen seen on the pants in the picture. It may have been that I paired it with a silk top and I just felt like a, “Slippery little snake” all day. Insert early 2000s YouTube video here, ohh man I hope someone gets the reference. Anyway, all jokes aside, not your highest quality pant material.
These also kind of gave you a camel toe, especially if you sat for too long. That is pretty standard though with any high wasted paper bag style pant.
Surprisingly, the length was really good! I am generally a shorter person at 5’ 3’’, but these came to right above my ankle, no problem.
I got a size large, 8-10. I was worried that the top would not stretch over my bum. That was definitely not a problem, they ended up overall being on the bigger side. However, with the style of pants, it still worked without me looking like an actual paper bag.

Last but not least, pants numero 3. These were my favorite out of all of them! I mean imagine getting to where sweatpants to work, they are super comfortable!!
They were A bit long, but I wear heels to work every day, so it really was not a problem.
The color was very much on point, though I am a bit biased when it comes to this color, a light pink! Perfect for spring!
My one complaint, they are a bit thin. The picture clearly does not display that at all, I mean come on, they look very cotton thickness to me, right? Anyway, If you wear nude undies, you will be fine. Being in the flyover states it gets to be really hot in summer. These will be perfect come July or August, but a little bit chilly for before tax season.
On a weird note, there is only 2 belt loops….Yeah, 2?? The belt is obviously just for show, not to actually hold the pants up, but there is not a back belt loop…trust me…I looked for probably 10 minutes.

Final Thoughts
Not nearly as disappointing as I prepared myself for! Though I did start off with a good attitude, I was actually prepared for the clothes to basically fall apart into string when I opened the package. So basically anything was a win.
Would I continue to buy every day wardrobe staples from Shein? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Would I buy something I may wear for a one-time-event or for even one season? ABSOLUTELY!! I will wear those pink pants all through the summer!!
Shopper Tip: Read the reviews! or blogs of people that have purchased them :)
One, if there are no reviews, don’t buy it.
Two, this helps you judge sizes (because as we all know a size 6 is not the same across the board)
Lastly, it will help you set your expectations on quality and fabric.
Returns? I have no idea because I kept all of my purchases!! (I did read online that they are easy to process though not free, there will be a restocking fee.)
